Assault - Landlord's wife in court for injuring husband's tenant

Chinyere Onyekwere was stabbed by her landlord's wife.
A 48-year-old woman, Okah Lanre, has been arrested and charged before an Apapa Magistrate's Court, Lagos, for attacking and stabbing a tenant of her ex-husband.
The incident which happened at her former husband's house located on Amore Street, Olodi Apapa, took place when Lanre went to the house in the night to look for her son, Victor, who was said to have been missing on the fateful day.
While she was searching through the compound, she was said to have shone the torch light she was holding on the tenant, Chinyere Onyekwere, who was sleeping on a mat outside.
The sleeping tenant protested the act and in the ensuing argument that followed, Lanre reportedly went for a cutlass she found on the premises and hacked the tenant in the jaw region.
The victim’s cry was said to have drawn the attention of her neighbours, who rushed her to a hospital.
The suspect was arrested after the incident was reported to the Tolu Police Station.
Prior to the incident, it was learnt that Lanre had been tough on the tenants in the compound, which partly led to a divorce between her and the landlord.
