KOGI STATE UNI.’S STRIKE “INDEFINITE OR A WARNING STRIKE?”

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Kogi State University chapter at the weekend began indefinite strike over unpaid allowances.

The lecturers’ grievances include non-payment of earned academic allowances, working without pension and excessive taxation. It was gathered that the allowances in question amount to about N700 million.

Speaking with our correspondent, the institution’s ASUU chairman, Dr Abdullahi Musa Yusuf, said
the earn allowance had not been paid since 2009.
