Let's Talk About Addiction - Omalicha Nwa

On Saturday night I was watching an interview with Bobbi Brown on Lifetime. He talked at length about his relationship with Whitney. He was quite open about their drug use, alcohol abuse and everything. He talked about how he went sober after he was released from prison after a 65 days sentence for DUI ( Driving Under The Influence ). He said his sobriety was his way of encouraging and supporting Whitney to stay off drugs.

He talked about how much he loved and still loves Whitney and wanted to keep their family together but drugs and outside influences (friends and family) kept singing in Whitney 's ears to file for divorce.

They were married for 14 years. The show then carried on a documentary about Whitney's life and career. She was amazing. Truly blessed. Like a reporter said "God kissed her voice".

We saw her career reach its peak and also watched it crash to the ground. In an interview with Diane Sawyer she talked about her drug use and actually said " crack is wack" in other words, she don't do the cheap the stuff. We saw what drugs and alcohol did to her- took her career, her marriage and eventually her life.

It broke my heart when she died. She was one of my favorite artists and probably one of yours too. My favorite Whitney Houston song is "All the man I need". Hmmmmm. ....that song gets me every time.

Did you know that Bobby Brown already had three children polio to hooking up with Whitney? He had his first child at 17 and by 22 he had 3 kids. Yeah....a real 'Bad boy'. He has now remarried, has a son with his new wife whom he calls the love of his life. They are expecting another baby. He's even a grandfather now. He says he is in a happy place and I'm happy for him.

His only child with Whitney - Bobbi Christina whom I'm sure you have all noticed is a spitting image of her daddy even in dentition has been in a coma for two weeks now. The media was and has been all over it since then.

Bobbi was found in a tub, she had drowned just like her mother. I refused to write about it then because I was and still am praying for Bobbi's recovery. As a huge Whitney fan I watched that child grow up from a distance. I wasn't thrilled when I heard she hooked up with Nick Gordon. But then....what's my own?

My heart has been hurting for that girl since I heard she was in a coma. I couldn't help but think that things would have been different if her mother were alive, things would have been a whole lot different if Whitney didn't have a drug addiction. She had an enviable career, she was a super star, a pace setter, an icon.....she had the world at her finger tips but her addiction just wouldn't let her be.

Devil na winch! She passed away in her prime@ just 48 years old. Now at 21 her daughter is fighting for her life. Which kain tin be dis? It's just not fair. All that hard work, all those years of hoping, praying and rehearsing, she finally made it but didn't live long enough to enjoy it.

I watched an interview where she said she wanted to pass the music legacy to her daughter just like her mom had passed down to her. How's that going to happen now. They need a miracle, serious divine intervention. Please keep Bobbi Christina in your prayers.

An addiction is a demon. We shouldn't allow anyone or anything control us like that. You should have the will power to resist anything and anyone that's trying to take over your life and ruin it- alcohol, drugs, sex, man, woman.....Nothing or no one should have that kind of power over you. Look what it did to Whitney Houston and so many other stars.

Do you have an addition? Is it a secret?
Talking about it is the first step towards recovery. There's nothing to be ashamed of, we are all human and bound to make mistakes. You can share anonymously or via email.
