WHY ASUU KSU IS ON STRIKE: FACTS AND FIGURES.

The chairman of Board of Internal Revenue denied the fact that ksu staff were overtaxed. It is good to bring to the notice of the public the discriminating role the Chairman has been playing against ksu staff.

He may do well by telling the public what Federal university lokoja, federal college of education okene, kogi state polytechnic lokoja and kogi state college of education ankpa has done for the chairman of board of internal revenue (BIR) which ksu has refused to do to warrant a ksu professor to pay a tax of sixty thousand naira (N60000) while his counterpart of the same salary level pay merely six thousand naira (N600) only.

Let him tell us that ksu staff were not overtaxed when a lecturer 1 pays about twenty eight thousand naira while his counterparts of d same salary level in d other named institutions merely pay two thousand naira (N300) only. Before this new tax regime commenced, , he had been over deducting ksu staff salary by taxing all allowances for a long time while other institutions own were not deducted like that. What offence has ksu staff committed against the chairman of d board to warrant this discrimination against her?

The earned academic allowance of d academic staff of ksu since 2009 till date has not been paid. U will remember ksu joined the national strike which attracted federal government intervention fund of about 1.6 billion naira for capital project. The school would continue to get eight hundred million naira yearly for the next five years as a result of that strike. The total sum of 1.1 billion naira is what d university owes her academic staff. Very many other universities have since been paid their earned academic allowance. Up till now no dime of that allowance has been paid to ksu academic staff.

Up till now, ksu has no pension scheme since its inception in d year 2000. People work for their tomorrow so they post pone present consumption till a future date but the staffs are here already consuming their tomorrow in such a manner that they have nothing at retirement.

IS THIS FAIR?
