Looking back at 2014 we’ve decided to show you a list of most influential Nigerian women and take a look at what they have done to appear on this list. Dr. Stella Adadevoh
It is interesting how much depends on a single person’s decision. Sometimes it is thousands of lives due to the spread of a deadly virus – ebola. Dr. Stella Adadevoh stopped the virus from spreading to Calabar when she insisted that Patrich Sawyer stayed in the hospital. According to the rumours, someone even tried to pressure her into letting him go, as he was planning to go on a trip to Calamar together with the Liberian Ambassador to Nigeria.
Dieziani Alison-Maduek
This year Dieziani Alison-Madueke became the first woman to be elected as the President of OPEC. She is the person that represents true staying power as she has been a Minister from 2007 till date. She started as a Minister of Transport 8 years ago, moved on to be a Minister of Mines and Steel under Yar’Adua, and since April 2010 she had been a Minister of Petroleum under Jonathan.
Patience Jonathan
We couldn’t have made up a list of most influential women in Nigeria without mentioning the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan. With the elections have already gone it is only natural for us to take a look at what they did last year. While one part of Nigerians look up to the notorious couple, the other ones think that they should not spend another day in the office.
