EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH DAVID MARY JOY C.E.O DMJ BEAUTY EMPIRE

Hello MADE IN KSU blog readers. We on again on another Fresh Exclusive MIK Interview. We have here With us The C.E.O of DMJ Beauty Empire.
She is by name DAVID MARY JOY. She is a Make Up Artist, a photographer and a student of Kogi State University.
I have a quick Chat with her, below was our conversation.



Good day. May we meet you?

DMJ: Good day to u as well..... my name is Mary Joy, surname David
Am an igala girl from kogi state, brought up in Lagos, primary and secondary school in ikorodu Lagos, a final year student in the department of sociology, kogi state university. Am a Makeup artist, a photographer, hair stylist in view,

What is your background? Where did you learn how to apply makeup?

DMJ: I love make ups right from when i waz a teenage girl back in high school then makeup was not yet modernized in this part of the country, just few years back it has become a very popular artistry work. I went in to learning photographs then tru photographs i indulge into learning Makeover professional @Bigman studio ad Zuli mamamm combining it with my studies



What are the biggest challenge makeup artists have to face?

DMJ: To me my biggest challenge is trying to satisfy my clients by going extra mile in providing the best cosmetics products adding a classic transformation to their look thereby convincing and getting their trust to you alone despite the large competition in the artistry world


If a customer asks for a style that you are sure would not suit them, how do you convince the customer to go otherwise?

DMJ: I will simply show them the figure and shape that fit for each looks and try to explain to their understanding.



Do you apply makeup for special events? Name some you have covered?

DMJ: I have applied makeup for runway models which involve dramatic and colors play Makeover
Bridal makeup has to do with mild nd calm sweet looks with nude lipstick
and also everyday looks makeup which doesn't need heavy touches


How often do you clean your makeup tools such as brushes and combs? How does it affect the wear and tear of your tools and how do you feel about the associated expense?

DMJ: I do clean my tools with my zaron liquid cleanser everytime i use it If clean often it reduce the rate at which it wear or tear and prevent bacteria and i also replace my brushes every 6months.
It doesn't affect my expenses becos i always budget for them before time

Do you have any experience in cosmetic retails?

DMJ: I get my products direct as one of the company sales rep. which has to do with registration with some amount of money in order to get easy and cheaper quality products
Like Zaron products, Tara products, Sleek products, Milani products, Classic products and more





How do you prepare dry and oily skin for foundation makeup application?


DMJ: for oily skin using a concealer and a loose powder is the best way to avoid a cakey makeup, it settled better and longer on Oily skin
For dry skin, a nice foundation and matifying powder goes for the day





What keeps you going? What motivates you?

DMJ: What keeps me going is just the grace and mercy of God
And what motivate are my haters, my haters make me put in my best to discourage them and prove them wrong.

Let's get a little bit personal, What is the one thing you do that drives people crazy?

DMJ: Hmmmmm....the one thing i do that drive people crazy is the way i look nd my smile..... lol


Would you rather be smart or sexy?

DMJ: I would rather have a smart personality than just being sexy

Now we have come to an end. Thanks for being on our program, can you give an advice to other makeup artist and the upcoming make up artist, and a shout out to family and friends message.

DMJ: My advice to MUA nd upcoming is for them to be passionate abt being a MUA and not after the money nor jist to abuse the use of cosmetics by over doing it
