By: DOSUNMU REGINA

Proir to his birthday, young upcoming artiste Abdulrahim Shehu Idris(Raheem), who is also a student of Kogi State University studying History and International Studies, speaks on his experience and passion for music in an interview with Dosunmu Regina.

Question: Give a brief biography of yourself ?
I'm from okene, kogi State. . I was born in Lagos at adeniyi Jones, ikeja to the family of Mr & Mrs Idris before moving to Agege at the age of 2. I attended Ben Gee Kiddies foundation nursery and pry school, brighter hope comprehensive high school for junior secondary school before moving to kogi state to complete my secondary school education. I'm currently a 200Level student of history and international studies in kogi State University.

Question: What inspired u to go into music?
My passion.

Question: When did you start pursuing ur career?
Last year.

Question: Who do you look up to as a role model in the music industry?
2face.

Question: Why?
Musically, he's hard to criticise. . He's someone that will always have something to talk about despite the amount of years he's spent in the industry and amount of records he's put out. . His personality again is another thing I admire. . 2baba is like a god in Africa's music scene.

Question: When and where have you performed publicly?
I've performed several times and i've even lost count of it but I performed at a wedding last year in Lagos, glo slide n bounce with M.I & Burna Boy in my school are the ones worth mentioning that I can remember.

Question: Any problems or disappointments so far?
(Laughs)..disappointments and problems come everytime... it's normal especially for upcoming artistes. In short, i've gotten too much promises I no longer take them serious, I just work for myself. I remember performing at a bachelor eve in lokoja, about 6 people promised me dat night. One was from Kogi state ministry of culture another was a politician. One of them even promised to link me up with the entertainment side of GLO and shoot a video for my song but didn't pick my call the next day. It's really annoying but its just one of those things that one has to go through.

Question: Your happiest moment in the music industry?
Until I'm mainstream there is no happy moment. . Every success is an encouragement, another reason to work hard.

Question: Any recent music?
I have a new management so I'm just recording at the moment, when it's time to drop something we won't drop it d usual way.

Question: You talked about having a new management why did you leave your former management?
It was based on agreement. We agreed on two years contract so it got expired and that was all.

Question: Can you give a breakdown of some of your music?
Sweet, shogbo, leave story. . There is a viral video for leave story.

Question: If not music which other career would you have chosen?
(Laughs).. I don't know yet.

Question: How is entertainment in kogi state like?
It is very boring. Out of hundred percent I'll rate it five. The only interesting part of entertainment in kogi state is entertainment blogging.

Question: How do you manage your time as a student and an artiste?
When I'm not in class, I'm in the studio but it's not really easy to combine.

Question: So what plans do you have for your birthday which is coming up on Monday 16th of may 2016?
Just little celebration with some friends
