This issue of domestic violence angered my spirit so much this morning, what could a woman do to a man to warrant him beating her to death?
What happened to all the vows and promises on the alter, the love and affection shared before marriage?
A woman that changes her name, changes her home, leaves her family, moves in with you, builds a home with you, gets pregnant for you, pregnancy changes her body, she gets fat, almost gives up in the labour room due to the unbearable pain of child birth and even the kids she delivers bear your name. Till the day she dies, everything she does: cooking, cleaning your house, taking care of your parents, bringing up your children, earning, advising you, ensuring you can be relaxed, maintaining all family relations, everything that benefit you...sometimes at the cost of her own health, hobbies and beauty.
So who is really doing whom a
favour?
Despite that, same men abuse these women and hurt them so badly.
We've stood up as a group of individuals inspired and headed by Face of Zirock, Queen Eseosa to say no to domestic violence and girl child marriage.
If you are staying in an abusive marriage because of your children, what the society has to say or even because of your religion will only lead to your death just like Ronke Shonde (may her soul rest in peace).
Those children u are scared of leaving an abusive marriage for, who will take care of them when that same marriage kills you?
The society you are worried about don't even care about you because the same society will just say RIP and move on with their lives.
And...is it because of your religion? Even the bible says in 1corinthians 7:15 that "if an unbeliever departs (from marriage) let him depart" then goes further to say that "a believing man or woman is not bound in such circumstances".
God has called us to live in peace and if your spouse abuses u physically then he has departed from your marital vows and disobeyed Ephesians 5:28 which says "husbands should love their wives as their own bodies" and also disobeyed God and such men can kill you.
God's plan for us is not to be abused in our marriage or even killed by our spouse and if you are in such relationship today please come out so you can be helped or if you know of anyone in an abusive relationship, help them speak out and save a life today.
Dear men, please appreciate the women in your lives always, because it is not easy to be a woman.
Being a woman is priceless.
Please let's all join hands together and stop domestic violence today.
Your purpose in this life is bigger than u, bigger than your husband and even bigger than your marriage.
