Kogi State University Student Maquin Sarah Appeals To Asuu Ksu Chapter To Call Off Strike

A Final year student of The Kogi State university has appealed to the Academic Staff union of universities (ASUU) Kogi State University Chapter to call-off its ongoing strike action.
In a press statement by Comrade Sarah S. (Maquin) she pleaded with the contending parties to embrace dialogue in the interest of the students and the suffering masses, whose livelihood depends on the functioning of the institution.

Sarah lamented that the on-going strike by ASUU has distorted the academic calender of the institution she also added
that apart from the negative effect on students, incessant strikes paint a bad image of the school and the State at large

She urged the State government to pay the remaining allowances being demanded by ASUU members if they have indeed not been paid.

According to her she said she is “not happy at all” because the school is already lagging behind in academic activities as compared to other institutions. She attributed this phenomenon to frequent disruption of academic activities over the years and called on both sides to come to an agreement in the interest of all.
She also advised students to be prayerful as the strike will come to an end soon
The lecturers began an indefinite strike on April 14, 2016 over unpaid salaries and unresolved welfare issues with the State Government.

Maquin Sarah is a young blogger maqunsblog.com and a student of Kogi State University.
