New KSU VC Warns Lecturers Against Truancy, Indolence

[imagSThe Vice Chancellor (VC), Kogi State University, Anyigba, Prof. Mohammed Abdulkadir, has warned academic and non-academic staff of the institution against truancy and indolence.

Abdulkadir, who gave the warning on Thursday in Ayingba during an interactive session with staff of the institution, also advised them not to engage In sycophancy, blackmail and other vices.

He said that he would be fair and firm in handling issues of indiscipline and other acts inimical to the growth and development of the institution.

Abdulkadir, who assumed duty in October, promised to maintain an open-door policy and be receptive to advises and genuine criticisms, but would reject any form of distractions .

“I will not tolerate gossips or side talks, selfishness, and manipulations to get undue advantage, “ the VC said.

The VC promised to introduce a Committee System to deepen and entrench good governance in the administration of the affairs of the university

“Things must be done transparently with prudent management of scarce resources, challenges must be collectively managed and not thrown at university management,” he said.

According to him , staff welfare will be given top priority.

Abdulkadir told the staff to see students as their children and friends, warning that “any display of victimisation and arrogance toward students will not be condoned.”

He also charged them to be prudent in the management of resources, adding that various units should be prepared to contribute to the finances of the institution.
