Kogi State Govt., ASUU And The Lingering Strike - By Audu Abbas Adaji

I do not know if we have actually spent 100 days at home but I am sure it is well over 3months and that has been a period of idleness and frustrations.

The Kogi state government and ASUU have continued to justify their actions with reasons why they are not to be blamed, who then should be blamed? the helpless students?

It is believed that the main reason why ASUU would not shift ground and return to class is because the 2015/2016 employees are yet to be cleared. It is said that the appointments were politically motivated which may or may not be true.

With regards to these employments I have a few questions to ask;

1. Were the employments unnecessary or needed?

2. Were the staffs employed not screened or qualified?

3. If these workers are sacked,what would happen to students of the Faculty of Education and college of Health Sciences where most of the lecturers were deployed to?

4. Should the past administration have ignored and not responded to the need to employ staffs?

Education is a RIGHT and not a PRIVILEGE but I want to use this medium to beg for my RIGHT, please #REOPENKSU. You’ve both shown your might but we’re the grass that is suffering (victims).

It has been said that the NEW DIRECTION agenda of the GYB lead administration prioritised Education and Health. I will want to applaud what is being done in the health sector but that can’t be said  about the former as our schools are barely open.

#REOPENKSU

  1. Enter your comment...it is a great issue because those staff had already contributed to what the gov't is using to settle others.
