KOGI VARSITY UNION TO CONTINUE STRIKE …Accuses Government Of Insincerity

The Academic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU) of the Kogi State University, Anyigba(KSU), has vowed to continue with its industrial action until the government meets its demand..
The union lamented that about 200 of its members were screened out of service during the workers' verification, accusing the government of insincerity.
The Acting Chairman,Dr. Daniel Anda, who addressed reporters in Lokoja yesterday, said the strike would only be suspended when issues related to salary arrears, the 2015 employment, and contract and sabbatical staff, were resolved. He asked that government resumed the monthly installment payment of 2009-2014 arrears of the Earned Academic Allowances(EAA).
His words: "The Kogi State University management must pay up the outstanding balance of the 2014/2015 arrears of the EAA". The union, he said, at the inaugural meeting of the governing council, urged it to expedite action on the resolution of uncleared staff and payment of salary arrears.
"This was to create a pathway for the amicable resolution of outstanding issues before the April 24 but our suggestion seemed to have been jettisoned because while workers in other tertiary institutions in Kogi, who were on strike, got their February and March salaries, those of KSU, Anyigba, are yet to be paid," he added.
