n my career as a political reporter, we always advise politicians and people in government on two issues. Diversion and Assignment. In diversion, you bring up sudden issues that will engage the mind and time of people who are distracting you. They will keep talking and fighting about that while you have your peace.
For assignment, you will find a critically damaging job for your
political foe so that he/she keeps defending himself or herself while
struggling to overcome the arduous task as you have your peace.
I have pressed the mute key on this RECALL PROJECT because I saw it in the colours of DIVERSON and ASSIGNMENT.
However, let me say some few words so that my silence will not be misinterpreted.
Senator Dino Melaye is my Okun brother, friend and Senator. I do
not agree with his style sometimes but there are many occasions in which
he has represented. I see his disagreement with Governor Yahaya Adoza
Bello as very political but the style of governance of the governor has
provided enough arsenals for SDM political battles. I’m therefore not
surprised that Governor Bello is seeking SDM jugular for a revenge and
a permanent rest. But can he succeed in pulling out Dino of the Senate?
He CAN’T. And the reasons are obvious.
It will be a miracle to pull through the conditions for recalling of SDM or any Senator.
It is also the height of insult for anybody to leave his own
senatorial district and come to another senatorial zone, no matter how
close, and sack their representative. Late Prince Abubakar Audu once
swore that Senator Tunde Ogbeha will not be re-elected. Ogbeha won his
reelection while Prince Audu lost his governorship battle. Nobody should
be beguiled by those coming out to register for the exercise, when
verification draws near, even the worst haters of SDM in Okunland will
go on the streets to express support for him. This will happen not
because they love SDM but out of protest against a malignant insult. The
situation in Iffe-Olukotun is a sampler. And the statement from the
Yagba Group should not be ignored.
It should be clear to the people in government that hiring Senator
Smart Adeyemi for a yeoman job has done more damage to their project.
GYB should leave these side kicks and concentrate on paying
salaries and reopening our institutions of higher learning. I wish to
stop here. May the Lord restore peace to our land through the same
Christ our Lord. Amen.
