The Fact That People Criticize Me Doesn't Mean I Won't Perform My Duty As A Leader Or Do What Is Right - Philips Omepa

MEETING BETWEEN THE UNIVERSITY GOVERNING COUNCIL, THE UNIVERSITY MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE AND THE GOVERNOR HELD IN GOVERNMENT HOUSE TODAY MONDAY 10TH APRIL, 2017 AND THE DETAILED TRUTH OF THE MATTER.

It will be recalled that two weeks ago a meeting was held between the striking unions (ASUU, JAC), the governing council and the University management.

Due to discussions held between all parties, the governing council put down recommendations and presented it to the visitor of the institution alhaji yahaya Bello (the executive governor of kogi state). Part of the recommendations were:

- that all salary arrears be paid and the governor put out a question that he was confused between the great margin between the wage bill the University management is presenting and what the accountant general has with him. He was further clarified by the University bursar who explained every bit to him. And right there the governor called the auditor general to his office where he directed him and the University bursar to compute immediately and give him the exact wage bill of the University.

And right there he approved for the payment of three months salary.

- secondly Was The issue of screening results. The council made recommendations that the result should be released to them for further action. And that any staff of the University found wanting from the initial screening by the state government should be left for the council confirmation as you can't bring persons who are not academia, those who does not understand the system to screen professor, doctors etc. And that screening should be left with the council. The governor also approved it.

- thirdly which had to do with the welfare of the students Was The issue of the situation of classes, light, water, security, ICT etc. And the need for the governor to visit the school to see the situations for himself. All these in the words of the governing council chairman were approved immediately by the governor.
He also affirmed that they are targeted towards ending the strike immediately after Esther. And students should be advised to get ready for resumption.
Thanks
