Read What Philips Omepa Posted About The 24th April Protest And His Impeachment From Office

APPRECIATION!!!

I write to humbly appreciate you all for your continuing supports so far in the struggle for the reopening of KOGI STATE UNIVERSITY ANYIGBA over the past three months since the declaration of the ASUU and JAC Strike action. For those who were able to join us today at nataco in Lokoja for the peaceful demonstration and even those who were with us in spirit through prayers and words encouragement, we appreciate in great measures and we pray the Lord Almighty reward everyone. It is not over until it is over. Let us patiently wait for the reactions of government and the striking unions having publicly expressed our grievances and with the release of the screening result to the Governing Council of all the Higher Institutions of Learning in the state. We however seek for your continuing support as we are not relenting because preparations are already on going to write to the State House Assembly for their intervention should in case the strike continues.

I equally want to seize this opportunity to first the time respond to my purported impeachment as the KSU - SUG President. SUG is not a personal body and therefore her activities must be run with the equal participation of all through the elected members of the Executive council, Parliamentary Arm and Congress. If there are however genuine grievances regarding my conducts as a president , what I expect is invitation from the Parliament through the lay down procedures and not acts of malice arising from obvious political differences. If not for the strike action, by now Power ought to have been transfers to new set of elected executives . There is no way I could have conducted election while exams were ongoing and after the of second semester exams I wrote to the University Management regarding conduct of election but the University instructed that the election be put on hold until students are back on campus to enable the participation of all even if its delegation. This can be verified from the University Management if there are doubts. Our role so far on the strike action is to mediate between the parties involved and not to jump into protest at the earlier stage as the reasons which lead to the closure needed to be addressed first. Protest can only come when there are no serious efforts by them to resolve and that is exactly what lead to our action today. Issues raised in my said impeachment are currently being investigated by the University management as this is the first step to be taken. In view of this, the University Management today has declared the said impeachment null and void as all the processes were dully and as such described unacceptable . I call on everyone to come and let's join hands together to fight our common goal by burying our personal interests and ill will acts.

Thanks and God bless.
Aluta Continua! Victoria Ascerta!

Shaibu Philip OMEPA.
SUG PRESIDENT KSU.
