The first protest which went down on 24th of April, some police men arrested 3 kogi students, but they were later released. Today at Lokoja, while the protest was going on, police men, soldier and other security agency were at the protest scene, pursuing students, throwing teargas to the students without giving them any warning or going into a dialogue with them. Some students were injured in the process. Kogi state students have vowed to continue the protest, let the the worst happen. We must go back to class. Our voice must be heard.

Read What Philips Omepa Posted About The 24th April Protest And His Impeachment From Office

APPRECIATION!!!

I write to humbly appreciate you all for your continuing supports so far in the struggle for the reopening of KOGI STATE UNIVERSITY ANYIGBA over the past three months since the declaration of the ASUU and JAC Strike action. For those who were able to join us today at nataco in Lokoja for the peaceful demonstration and even those who were with us in spirit through prayers and words encouragement, we appreciate in great measures and we pray the Lord Almighty reward everyone. It is not over until it is over. Let us patiently wait for the reactions of government and the striking unions having publicly expressed our grievances and with the release of the screening result to the Governing Council of all the Higher Institutions of Learning in the state. We however seek for your continuing support as we are not relenting because preparations are already on going to write to the State House Assembly for their intervention should in case the strike continues.

I equally want to seize this opportunity to first the time respond to my purported impeachment as the KSU - SUG President. SUG is not a personal body and therefore her activities must be run with the equal participation of all through the elected members of the Executive council, Parliamentary Arm and Congress. If there are however genuine grievances regarding my conducts as a president , what I expect is invitation from the Parliament through the lay down procedures and not acts of malice arising from obvious political differences. If not for the strike action, by now Power ought to have been transfers to new set of elected executives . There is no way I could have conducted election while exams were ongoing and after the of second semester exams I wrote to the University Management regarding conduct of election but the University instructed that the election be put on hold until students are back on campus to enable the participation of all even if its delegation. This can be verified from the University Management if there are doubts. Our role so far on the strike action is to mediate between the parties involved and not to jump into protest at the earlier stage as the reasons which lead to the closure needed to be addressed first. Protest can only come when there are no serious efforts by them to resolve and that is exactly what lead to our action today. Issues raised in my said impeachment are currently being investigated by the University management as this is the first step to be taken. In view of this, the University Management today has declared the said impeachment null and void as all the processes were dully and as such described unacceptable . I call on everyone to come and let's join hands together to fight our common goal by burying our personal interests and ill will acts.

Thanks and God bless.
Aluta Continua! Victoria Ascerta!

Resigned SUG PRO Cosmos Ogiri Publicly Apologizes To Philips Omepa For Calling Him Out

My apologies to Omepa Philips Shaibu.

All of us have been through times where we had a disagreement with someone. In many cases we are able to resolve our differences and continue with a normal relationship. In others, we made the best of the situation and tried to forget about it. However, sometimes the disagreement was never resolved and everyone involved went their separate ways being bitter and without reconciling their differences. For this reason, I have tried to reach Omepa Philips Shaibu -sent him a message on facebook that I am sorry the way political interest have really turned us into emergency comrades.

I am neither doing this in restoration of friendly relations nor action of making my view or belief compatible with Omepa Philips but for clarifications that I owe no personal grudge against him as a person but for the allegations and his misdoing that I am a witness to. Today I choose to use the word allegations even when the parliament has investigated him, found him guilty and impeached him accordingly because the school management has giving him another two days to defend himself and respond to the allegations against him.

I owe Omepa Philips this apology, because I have no personal grudge against but for the Students Union Government which out of anger of the way he ran the administration I resigned.

Matthew 5:21-25 where we are told that if we have an unresolved disagreement with someone that we should resolve it as soon as possible, even before we go to church again. This is reinforced in Hosea 6:6, Matthew 6:6, and Matthew 12:7 where Jesus told us that restoring relationships are more important than religious practices. Philip Omepa Shaibu, I am sorry for calling you out, am sorry for making you feel less than you really are, am sorry for everything - I take responsibility for it all. We where all fighting for the students but though with different ideology and means. I was so angered that your means of attaining the best of the students is not working even after a full tenure.

Finally, just like my Bible teach me that reconciliation means that we must be willing to ask for forgiveness and forgive if asked (Matthew 18:21-35), I am making this public apology after writing to you for forgiveness that I am truly sorry for I don't have any personal grudge against you at all.

It may seem as though I am to others, students alike but you know the truth that I have no interest other than the interest you and I sworn an oath to protect.

I want you to forgive me for the sake of Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

So we can Pay attention to ourselves as directed by Luke 17:3 that If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him.

I am truly sorry Philip Omepa Shaibu.

Struggles Continue.

The Fact That People Criticize Me Doesn't Mean I Won't Perform My Duty As A Leader Or Do What Is Right - Philips Omepa

MEETING BETWEEN THE UNIVERSITY GOVERNING COUNCIL, THE UNIVERSITY MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE AND THE GOVERNOR HELD IN GOVERNMENT HOUSE TODAY MONDAY 10TH APRIL, 2017 AND THE DETAILED TRUTH OF THE MATTER.

It will be recalled that two weeks ago a meeting was held between the striking unions (ASUU, JAC), the governing council and the University management.

Due to discussions held between all parties, the governing council put down recommendations and presented it to the visitor of the institution alhaji yahaya Bello (the executive governor of kogi state). Part of the recommendations were:

- that all salary arrears be paid and the governor put out a question that he was confused between the great margin between the wage bill the University management is presenting and what the accountant general has with him. He was further clarified by the University bursar who explained every bit to him. And right there the governor called the auditor general to his office where he directed him and the University bursar to compute immediately and give him the exact wage bill of the University.

And right there he approved for the payment of three months salary.

- secondly Was The issue of screening results. The council made recommendations that the result should be released to them for further action. And that any staff of the University found wanting from the initial screening by the state government should be left for the council confirmation as you can't bring persons who are not academia, those who does not understand the system to screen professor, doctors etc. And that screening should be left with the council. The governor also approved it.

- thirdly which had to do with the welfare of the students Was The issue of the situation of classes, light, water, security, ICT etc. And the need for the governor to visit the school to see the situations for himself. All these in the words of the governing council chairman were approved immediately by the governor.
He also affirmed that they are targeted towards ending the strike immediately after Esther. And students should be advised to get ready for resumption.
Thanks

OMEPA PHILLIP
SUG PRESIDENT KSU

BREAKING News: JAMB Suspends 2017 UTME Registration... See Details

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Friday announced suspension of registration for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME).
Registrar, Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Is’haq Oloyede
The ongoing registration for the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, has been suspended for 52 hours by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Abuja on Friday.
The Registrar/Chief Executive of JAMB, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, who made the announcement at a press briefing in Abuja, said the decision was aimed at preventing any disruption during the conduct of the UTME mock examinations scheduled for Saturday.
The examination body, which put the suspension hour between 8:00pm on April 7 (Friday) and 12:00am on April 10 (Monday), said one million candidates have registered for the exam so far.
He said candidates could also go to banks, NIPOST, Interswitch or Remita to procure PINs for registration on Monday, adding that there will be no sale of forms, registration and biometric capturing at the various centres in which the mock examinations would take place.
Read full statement below:
NO REGISTRATION SATURDAY 8TH APRIL 2017
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) wishes to again assure Nigerians especially the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) candidates and their parents that all hands are on deck to ensure the smooth conduct of this year’s UTME exercise.
We want to reiterate that the interest of the candidates is foremost to the Board and there is no need for any apprehension regarding the purchase of forms and registration for the examinations. It is our commitment as a responsive and responsible body to ensure that no willing candidate is left out and if there is a need to extend the registration deadline, the needful will be done.
Meanwhile, Saturday April 8th , 2017 has been set aside for the Mock UTME. To seamlessly achieve this, the Board has SUSPENDED all activities relating to the registration exercise in ANY CBT centre from 8pm today being Friday 7th of April, 2017 and to resume on Monday 10th of April, 2017.
This is to notify the candidates and the concerned stakeholders that there will be no sale of forms, registration and biometric capturing at the various centres in which the Mock Examinations are taking place.
This however does not preclude any candidate from going to Banks, NIPOST, interswitch or Remita to procure pins for registration on Monday. This is to prevent any disruption of the process and conduct of the mock examination.
The Mock Examinations for interested candidates taking place Saturday 8th April, 2017 is intended to familiarize our candidates with the CBT systems and generally forecast the challenges that may be faced ahead in order to proactively address them. It is just a rehearsal for us and candidates who want to experience the situation to expect during the actual examinations.
Therefore, the sale of forms, registration and biometrics at CBT Centres are to be suspended from 8:00 p.m. today till Monday, April 10, 2017. This notice is for the strict adherence of our officers and partners throughout the Federation.
While wishing the candidates and officials participating in the examination a successful mock exercise, we once again re-assure the candidates that there is no need for worry or anxiety. The next one week we believe is sufficient to capture the remaining candidates as about 1,000,000 applicants have successful registered.
However, as stated earlier, no one will be left behind as the deadline may be extended if there are applicants who do not succeed at registering due to circumstances beyond their control.
The Board sincerely regrets all inconveniences and state it resolved to work tirelessly to change the fortune of education in Nigerian.
Signed,
Prof. Is-haq O. Oloyede, OFR, FNAL
Registrar, JAMB

Rainstorm, Fire Destroy Properties Worth Millions In Kogi

The people of Ihima Town in Okehi Local Government of Kogi State were thrown into confusion yesterday March 29 as properties worth millions of naira were destroyed as a result of rainstorm.

The havoc which caused untold hardship to the people of the community saw the destruction of properties belonging to both individuals and public investments.

Speaking on the sad incidence on the floor of Kogi State House of Assembly, the member representing Okehi Constituency, Hon. Sani Kekere Abdulkareem observed that the rainstorm rendered many homeless, while businesses in the area were brought to standstill.

According to him, “the coming of the first rain is often considered as blessing from God as it marks the beginning of another farming season in all communities and often received with joy. Apart from reducing the effect of the harsh weather, it is also essential for human existence. However, the reverse is the case in Okehi Constituency”.

Hon. Abdulkareem urged the state government to as a matter of urgency direct the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, to pay a visit to the affected area with a view to assessing the extent of damage so as to assist the victims.

He also enjoined the House to direct the Administrator of the affected community to visit the area and also provide relief materials as temporary measures to ameliorate the sufferings of the people.

In another development, fire has reportedly burnt down farmlands and crops belonging to the people of Oye, Omo Ejugbahe and Okokotua Clan in Ijumu Constituency of Kogi State.

The inferno affected farmers whose major farm produces are crops as well as palm trees and they are reported to be having serious financial challenges.

Must Read: Kogi, A State Governed Like A Coin Toss

For personal reasons, I resolved to slow the pace of my objections and criticism of the the Alhaji Yahaya Bello led government of Kogi State. However, whenever the breath of a seeming new leaf is in the air, the old ways surface and I can’t stop wondering why and when the government will get it right.

For the avoidance of doubt, the worst impression that any sane government and people must never let to interwoven them is mistrust but this has become the trade mark of the new direction government. I read with hopes and optimism a Facebook post by the chief press secretary to the alias white lion governor of Kogi State when she confidently expressed that all salaries and arrears shall be cleared latest March 31, 2017.

While pessimists and some notable opposition figures maintained with some even vowing that Kogi State was broke, u chose the part of fair judgment by giving the government a benefit of doubt considering the source and optimism expressed in the post said above. Alas, less than a week to the said deadline, reversed turned the case as those who never believed in the tendency of sincerity from the digital government got vindicated.

This development did not just shock me but kept me wondering whether Kogi State has been turned into a state(government) of coin toss. Recall elementary sports where toss is often used to determine the fate of who shall posses ball at the kick off. Despite the abysmal hunger, locked schools, shut down business activities and the prevailing hardship screening has caused the state large population, it beats my imagination for a government that is made up by cooperate branded “Godly politicians” to be playing pranks with the citizens welfare.

At first, it was a December 20 deadline, like a smoke wave it escaped criticism and December 20 came without honour to the oath. Then, a February 27 deadline was widely circulated without fulfilment on grounds of quite convincing excuses and this gave way for March 31 with which many people have so hoped for only to be extended by three weeks. With these antecedents of insincerity, the question begging for answers now is; can the three week extension be trusted?

While the answer shall only be determined by the test of time, the time is now right to say Kogites had better find other means of livelihood than relying on hopes coming from the government. The state has been sieged with too many distractions that evidently signifies little or no hope for the common man. Schools are closed, businesses are retarding, youths are turning bet kingpins, immoralities are turning business and no hope seem to be in offing. The earlier one adjusts, the better therefore. Moreover, in the end, all man shall carry his cross before the Lord!

Breaking News: Kogi Police Command Denies KSU Students License To Peaceful Protest

The plans of Kogi State tertiary institutions students to embark on a peaceful demonstration may have hit a snag as the state police command has intimated the students’ leadership that it is incapable of assuring their safety.

The state commissioner of police, Wilson Inalegwu, who told the students this evening of the development, advised them against going ahead as it might lead to break down of law and order in Lokoja, the state capital.
In their reactions, leadership of the students have expressed disappointment, describing the excuse given by the police chief as a show of incompetency and deliberate efforts to frustrate them.

He said the students’ leadership were still not deterred by the setback, as they are more determined than ever to ensure they show their dissatisfaction with government insensitivity to the plight of students in the state.

According to the students, while government and its agents have politicised the situation, students, who are futures of the state and country have continued to suffer the brunt.
An obviously disappointed Kogi State University Student, who is also looking forward to the peaceful demonstration, noted that he suspects a deliberate connivance between the police and the state government to deny them opportunity of public display of their anger.

He said they are however undaunted as their dissatisfaction would still be made public in any way possible.

SAME GOVERNMENT THAT IS SAID TO HAVE BRIBED PHILLIPS OMEPA IS INVESTIGATING HIM WITH SSS - Cosmos

This Post was shared by Ksu SUG Public Relations Officer Ogiri Cosmos On Facebook and other social media pages.

Read the below

"Before I address the above topic let me quickly inform you that I just saw Isaac Ocheme president of KSCOEA calling on students to come out for protest. What I don't know is his legal framework and guarantee that the students will not be faced with a double jeopardy?

I leave you all to use your tongue and count your teeth. Don't forget where you come from.

I and my fellow excos from KSU are not weaklings. We have done it before and the whole world know and saw what we can do.
Don't you think we can even do more if we are ready?

We understand that until we are back to school no student will agree that we are working on something solid and out of victimization. We cannot come and protest and later start mentioning names in secret.

So I beseech every student to be calculative and watchful as a lot of people are trying to play games with your future!

Politics are been played here and for you to understand the wisdom behind Phillips assumed sluggishness you have to understand the political situation in Nigeria as whole where even at death of a Governorship Elect politics where played. Where even in the church, politics are played.

What happens if you are victimized for ever?
What happens if after the protest, ASUU refuse to go back to class - of course they won't until 100% of their issues are attended to.

What happens if things go worst after the protest and Bello holds on it to delay due process!

Hey! Don't be distracted, we waiting for the committees reports even when we know they will not provide us with 100% recommendations, let's wait for them to even present it.

If we fight now, Bello could dissolve this inaugurated committee and after much media pressure on him, he will constitute yet another committee with yet another 30 to 90 days to submit their report and recommendation.

Is that what you want?

According to Omepa Phillips, here is what he told me and I understand with him because that's the best thing to do at the moment. He said and I quote "...there will be no protest until after 31st. Because the government, university visiting panel and university council has promised that screening will be ending by 31st march and all issues will be treated before then".

The government has been pleading with him to keep the students calm and calmness I beseech everyone.

You and I know that the best time to fight in other to win comrades solidarity, people's sympathy and the Nation's security is when you have made proper consultation, and consolidation of rationales.

We will protest but not until after the ultimatum elapse.

I want to intimate you that any protest without Phillips Omepa is illegal. In this background I want to reassure you that he needs your support now than ever because the Government is really investigating every of his movements and actions from the SSS office.

Just yesterday he was interrogated over plans of using the students to stop the day to day activities of the patriotic people of Lokoja and the State government. If this people wants to get you, they know the perfect language to use.

Also, same yesterday he was tipped and interrogated over a meeting he did not attend with Sen. Dino.

Now you have to understand the President position over insisting on due process.

A meeting was actually held with Senator Dino but KSU SUG president was not there.

In fact he was impersonated by those trying to use students to fight the government for political reasons.

Here are the names of those present in the meeting with Sen. Dino melaye - Tom Ohikere, Austin Okai and our own very State APC chairman.

Now, read the names over again and you will understand the reasons why they are agitating seriously for a protest. These people are not fighting for your interest at all. They are aggrieved against Phillips Omepa because he debunked the earlier protest they planned.

They have succeeded in buying the following students over to parade and impersonate the Students Union Government.
The students that impersonated SUG in the meeting are: abdulrazak jimoh bello, abubakar isah, and ibrahim hadi adinoyi, Phillips Omepa was not there.

They know how strong KSU SUG is, and they know we can't not be bent to allow our students to join a badly planned, ill timed and a death trap strategy.

So, after all efforts to push Phillips Omepa into calling the students to the streets of Lokoja they form the 1million naira scandal against the union so students will turn against the unionist.

This is a plan perfectly drafted out not for the interest of the students but for selfish political interest.

Logical conclusion would have it this, how can the same government who has bribed Omepa Phillips be investigating him as a perceived enemy.

Let's wait and see what next after 31st of March.

Phillips Omepa needs you and I now more than ever, he said in his own words "Am been fought by students and am also been fought by government.
if the students are waiting for me to fight alone this time for the strike to be called off then am only but one man. But what am waiting for to fight is our unity and am not seeing that yet. They can arrest one man i.e me but if we fight together, they cannot arrest us all"

JFO, honoured with the prestigious SARDAUNA PLATINUM AWARD for his contribution to youth development in northern Nigeria said, this gesture is a call to do more. He thanked the elders who nominated him & youths who found him worthy.

The erudite entertainment entrepreneur promised not to relent in his developmental strides .

Feelers in the entertainment industry believes this award for JFO was long overdue. From his days in Mount St. Gabriel Makurdi where he was a member of a band which included Tu Face, Baba JFO's impact in the lifes of the Northern Musicians has been tremendous.

Entertainers from Kogi state who turned out in their numbers to celebrate their own all agreed that JFO has in one way or the other contributed to their careers. They called on individuals and organizations to emulate this icon in order to promote entertainment as a viable revenue generating industry in Kogi State and indeed Northern Nigeria.

Present at the event were representatives of all the Northern state governors, a former speaker of Kogi state house of assembly & national house of representatives member, the Special Adviser to Kogi state governor on health & other distinguished guest amongst whom were clergy men of all faiths.

We Did Not Collect #1.2million From State Government To Stop The Protest - SUG President Philip Omepa

DISCLAIMER FROM THE DESK OF THE SUG PRESIDENT KSU.
I write to the generality of the students of Kogi state university and Congress of kogi state to debunk the rumor that the SUG has collected the sum of 1.2million Naira from KOGI STATE government to stop the protest which was never planned by the institution for 21st February 2017. It is worthy of note that such rumor lingered in the last ASUU strike which was proven not to be true with the protest that held in ganaja junction on July 14th, 2016. It is also worthy of note that the SUG president has been quiet as to issue regarding the current ASUU strike and this is because the body knew various procedures and method it adopted to achieve success in the past ASUU strike.
Part of the primary aim and mandate of the union is to protect the lives and security of its students. And this is why it cannot risk allowing its students participate in a protest it cannot guarantee their security.
This doesn't mean if protest becomes our last resort, it wouldn't be adopted.
For the avoidance of doubt I will emphatically stress out that if any government officials has given the SUG of KSU money to stop the rumored protest, he or she should come out with evidence for clarity and posterity sake.
Finally students are pleaded to keep their peace as decisions taken will purely put a lasting end to the issue of ASUU strike in KOGI STATE UNIVERSITY.
thanks.
Comrade Shaibu Philip OMEPA
SUG PRESIDENT KSU.

Students Hire Prostitutes, Beg Girlfriends To Sleep With Lecturers For Marks

Twelve lecturers of Auchi Polytechnic in Edo state were dismissed, sixteen demoted, four warned in connection with sexual-related offences, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) reports.

Auchi Polytechnic, the Nigerian tertiary institution where prostitutes were hire d to sleep with lecturers

Besides, two other educators were advised, another two cautioned and one more lecturer would be mentored for some time.

The news was made public by Masa’udu Kazaure, the executive secretary of the board, at a news conference in Kaduna on Thursday, November 30.

A fact-finding committee launched inner investigation after the Punch newspaper had published an article in April this year titled: “School Where Prostitutes Assist Male Students to Get Marks”

Mr Kazaure said: “The summary of the publication indicated that students hire prostitutes or beg their girlfriends to sleep with lecturers on their behalf in order to earn higher grades in their courses.

The lecturer chooses a hotel of his choice and the affected students pay the hotel bills, which include the meals before the action.

Some of the lecturers give the option of paying by cash, which cost between N10, 000 and N20, 000, which could give the student not more than a ‘C’ grade.

We promptly informed the Minister of Education, Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC), Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and Department of Security Services (DSS).”

It took a week for the committee that comprised of representatives from EFCC, ICPC, DSS, NBTE and the Federal Ministry of Education to investigate and then propose long-lasting solutions to the problem.

The report with recommendations that was submitted to Adamu Adamu, the minister of ediucation, in June this year were finally approved on November 21.

“Consequently, the minister approved the dismissal from the services of the Polytechnic two chief lecturers, two principal lecturers and one Lecturer I.

Also, four chief lecturers, one principal lecturer, one lecturer I, one lecturer II and one higher technician had their appointments terminated.

The minister also approved the demotion of one chief lecturer, four principal lecturers, three senior lecturers, three lecturer I, four lecturer II, and one senior instructor.

One chief lecturer, one principal lecturer, one lecturer I, and one lecturer II were warned, while a chief lecturer and one senior technologist were advised to be of good conduct.

In addition, two senior lecturers were cautioned, an Assistant Lecturer is to be mentored and one ND student is to be advised, while another student denied admission into the polytechnic,” Mr Kazaure concluded.
