Anthony Joshua: How Nigerian Boxing Officials Rejected Heavyweight Champion Years Ago

Revelations have been made on how Nigerian boxing officials rejected the highly celebrated boxing champion, Anthony years ago.
Anthony Joshua

A former boxing champion, Jeremiah Okorodudu, has revealed how boxing rave of the moment, Anthony Joshua, was rejected by Nigerian boxing officials nine years ago.

Joshua caught global attention and became a darling of boxing fans Saturday night after he humiliated Wladimir Klitschko, at the Wembley Stadium in England.

Speaking with UK Sun, Okorodud recalled that nine years back, Joshua’s efforts to represent Nigeria at the 2008 Olympic Games were futile as the Nigerian boxing officials turned him down.

He said, “Joshua was in Nigeria once to connect with his roots and I think that was in 2007.

“He wanted a chance to compete for trials ahead of the 2008 Beijing Olympics qualifiers, but he was denied and not given a chance.

“Disappointed, he went back to England to represent Great Britain.

“He went on to win a gold that could have been a first for Nigeria at the Olympics.

“If only they had allowed him to compete for Nigeria, that gold would have been a Nigerian gold and not Great Britain’s.”

Another Nigeria coach at the time, Adegboyega Adeniji-Adele also confirmed the fact that Joshua was at the Nigerian camp.

“Oluwafemi Olaseni Joshua is his name and his family come from Ogun state in Nigeria,” he told the newspaper.

“When he visited, his intention was to represent Nigeria at the Olympics but he was denied in the trials. He had no other option than to go to Britain.

“It’s Nigeria’s loss, Britain’s gain. Personally, I feel sad that they let him go and those people should be made to explain why it was impossible to give him a chance.”

However, Obisia Nwakpa, who was the chief coach of the boxing team in 2008, defended the decision of not taking Joshua to the Olympics.

“We made the right call then, because he wasn’t good enough and we picked someone who was much better,” he was quoted as saying.

King Joshua: Checkout 3 Reasons Klitschko Lost to Anthony Joshua in Wembly Stadium

British-Nigerian fighter, Anthony Joshua put up a really gallant fight last night to knock out his opponent, Wladimir Klitschko. These are some of the reasons why he won.

Anthony Joshua knocked out Wladimir Klitschko
It was a thrilling battle, one for the ages, on Saturday night at the Wembley when British Anthony Joshua knocked out  Wladimir Klitschko in the 11th round.
The win means Joshua added the IBO and WBA world Heavyweight titles to his IBF belt.
Klitschko, arguably one of the best boxers to grace the ring, hit the canvas three times and Joshua once in the epic battle.
These are three reasons the 41-year-old lost.
1. Age
At 41, Klitschko though still very much the athlete was visibly tired by the end of the ninth round. Anthony Joshua, who is 14 years younger, wouldn’t have lasted the distance against the rampaging Ukrainian when he was in his 30s.
2. That sixth round goof
The much-experienced Klitschko entered the ring with an incredible stat, 53 KOs in 68 fights and 64 victories. The sixth should have been the end. Early in the round, the powerful Ukranian hit Joshua with a massive right hand, spilling his mouthpiece.
The UK Guardian exclaimed: “Joshua in serious trouble! Oh dear. Joshua looks exhausted. He’s taking shots that he sees coming. Too tired to move out of the line of fire. No legs, breathing through his mouth heavily. Now he digs deep at the end of the round but it’s surely too little too late.”
Klitschko had the moment to finish off Joshua, he didn’t and the rest is history.
3. Fight rustiness
Klitschko’s last fight was Tyson Fury on 28 November 2015, losing his WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO, The Ring, and lineal heavyweight titles. After two botched rematches between the two, Fury was forced to vacate the WBA (Unified), WBO, IBO heavyweight titles.
After 18 months of inactivity, the 41-year-old stepped into the ring against a younger man who last fought in December 2016.

Read according to the eye witness below;

This sad incident happened at my compound at Awada in Onitsha this morning.

The 2 women are living together in a flat because their husbands share a flat at our compound.

Even though their husbands are friends, The wives never got along and was always quarreling but nothing prepared us for what we saw this morning….

When their husband left for shop this morning, another round of fight began and this time it was different. we heard screaming and then a huge thud and then wailing and crying ensured

I rushed to the verandah and discovered to my dismay that the women fell from their 3rd floor flat and both of the shattered many bones in their bodies.

Both couldnt stand but i suspect that the other may have broken her spinal cord because she couldnt move a limb and her head was severely bashed and she was bleeding heavily.

They have been rushed to Toronto hospital to ascertain the level of their injuries while we called up their husbands.

BVN Palava: No More Deadline Extension After October 31st, CBN Warns

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has made it clear that there would not be further extension when the October 31, 2015 deadline for the bank verification (BVN) elapses.

This, according to the banking sector regulator means that customer without the BVN-linked accounts may risk being restricted from normal operations of their accounts or free access to their bank account balances by the end of next month.

It revealed that statistical trend of the BVN registration exercise showed with about 52 million active bank accounts in various banks, total enrolment stood at about 20 million, out of which about 14 million accounts have been linked to the BVN as at September, 2015.

It emphasised in a statement at the weekend that BVN is now mandatory requirement for opening new bank accounts, adding that those to be affected by the restrictions are customers whose accounts were opened prior to the commencement of the BVN scheme.

The CBN, in collaboration with the bankers’ committee, introduced the BVN on February 14, 2014. This initiative of the bankers’ committee is aimed at ensuring unique identity for all bank customers and other users of financial services in the country by the use of the customers’ biometrics as means of identification.

Initially, it was estimated that all bank customers would, within a period of 18 months, complete enrolment in the new system of customer identification. The enrolment for the scheme can be done in banks across the country.

One of the most potent arguments advanced by banks for not extending enough credit to prospective credit customers in Nigeria has been the absence of credible identity system. Thus, it was agreed that the scheme would make access to credit easier for people in the low income earners in the society, which include employees and entrepreneurs of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), students etc.

“At the expiration of the estimated 18 months after the launch, empirical evidence showed that a good number of bank customers were reluctant and never took the exercise seriously. Thus, few days to the end of the mandatory 18 months, which was June 30, 2015, there was commotion and stampede in banking halls across the country, as customers were pushing, shoving and climbing on each other in order to beat the deadline for the BVN registration.

“This confusion necessitated the call for the extension of the registration dateline by four months to October 31, 2015. What is required is for a bank customer to visit any branch of his bank and the desk officer would capture his finger print and a photograph of his face, his signature and demand for a photocopy of either of his driving license, national identity card or international passport of the customer.

“The question now is whether bank customers have been taking advantage of the extension to complete their BVN registration, and also ensure that their various bank accounts have been linked to the BVN,” it stated.

Another interesting trend, according to the central bank showed that after the initial rush between the end of June and July 2015, there has been a steady decline in new BVN enrolment figures for August and September, 2015.

“The emerging scenario therefore, strongly suggests that many bank account holders have continued to show apathy instead of taking advantage of the extension period.

“Given this development, there is the apprehension that the commotion and melee experienced at various banking halls in the month of June 2015 would be repeated if customers do not use the remaining one month to ensure that they complete their BVN registration, and also get their various accounts linked to the BVN.

“The CBN has made it clear that there would not be further extension after October 31, 2015 deadline. This means that customer without the BVN-linked accounts may risk being restricted from normal operations of their accounts or free access to their bank account balances,” it added.

Kogi Education - Wada pays N201m scholarships to 60,000 students

Students in Kogi state are in for a good time as the Governor Idris Wada-led government commences the disbursement of N200.6 million scholarships.

Wada's Senior Special Assistant on Youth and Student Affairs, Comrade Matifo Precious, revealed this in Lokoja on Wednesday.

He said N100.6 million of the total sum is for undergraduate students studying at various universities in the country while the remaining N100 million will be disbursed to Kogi students studying at the Nigerian Law School (NLS).

Precious explained that 25,000 students have been paid a total of N30 million in the first tranche while the other students will be paid subsequently.

The scholarship will be warmly received, given that the governor has been severally criticised in the past for not taking education in the state seriously.

With the gubernatorial elections fast approaching and the emergence of a former Governor of the state, Prince Abubakar Audu, as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Wada will hope that the gesture will win the students to his side.

Wada, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and an accomplished pilot, became Governor of Kogi State in 2011 and is seeking a second term in office.

He will need all the support he can get, considering that, in early September, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in Kogi, Suleiman Abdullahi, threatened to go against him at the polls if the government does not pay the N32bn owed them in unpaid allowances.

Nigerian Youths Now Visit “Mad Men” & “Imbeciles” To Win Big In Sport Bets & Baba Ijebu Lotto

This Post was sent to Us:

This is Mustapha a.k.a Musty, a physically challenged youth in the Ketu area of Lagos state that has become an idol of sort among gamblers and sport bettors.

For those who may not be aware, there has been this strong belief among many gamblers and sport bettors that lunatics, and people with certain type of disabilities have a special divination gift that can help them to predict correctly winning numbers for all kinds of lotteries. In the gamblers words, these kinds of people are “spirits” and they can see what we humans don’t see.

Naijaloaded.com.ng gathered that the young man was born with a certain birth disorder that left him deformed and mute and he was only known to beg around for stipends in the area, until lately that there has been very huge demand for him by gamblers in the area who will corner him, and give him writing materials to scribble certain numerical codes for them.

“Yes it’s true, Musty is an slowpoke (local but derogatory term for the deformed or those with Down Syndrome). This all started after Musty wrote numbers for a guy named, Kola a motor park tout in the area and he won 5million naira when he played with the code. The news went round and now everybody want a piece of Musty. They will give him N50, a pen and paper, to write winning numbers for them. It’s unfortunate what unemployment has turned our youths into. They are just exploiting the young man,” a resident in the area told Naijaloaded.com.ng

Another source disclosed that it has even gotten to a point whereby some desperate boys in the area will give Musty stipends and still invite him to a local pepper soup joint for a treat and afterwards get him to write out ‘winning numbers’ for them.

However, the authenticity of Musty’s magic numbers are being placed under scrutiny in the Ketu area as many gamblers have complained that more often than not, they end up losing even despite playing sport bets with the young man’s number.

But this, according to another residence hasn’t stopped many from seeking Musty’s magic numbers hoping to win big in lottery with the ‘numbers from the spirit world’.

Speaking, a sport bettor bears his on the matter; “Many guys in the area have different opinions about Musty’s ability to give them sure (winning) numbers. I don’t know how true it is but a lot of people have claimed to win big after collecting numbers from the boy, but for me I don’t believe in such things.”

The other side to the coin now is that, we gathered that Musty now goes about with a pen and paper notebook pointing it to every passerby offering to give them numbers.

When our reporter went to meet Musty, all he did throughout was to point his paper and pen to the reporter. He scribbled different sets of number codes on his paper and like a drug addict who needed to exchange his money for crack, Musty persistently and passionately waved the paper to our reporter with hope of exchanging it for a stipend.

Else where in the Ikorodu area of the state, there is a “mad man” popularly known as “Professor” along the Ijede road who is known for always inscribing all kinds of arithmetic formula on the road culvert with a white chalk. Boys in the area also believe that the “Professor” usually writes out secret lottery winning numbers in the morning around 5am and if you are ‘lucky’ enough to be along the road at that time of the day and copy the “magic numbers” from the culvert, you’ll win a jackpot if you play your ‘game’ with them.

Some boys reportedly almost pushed themselves into a speeding on coming lorry recently while scrambling to be first to copy out “professor’s” magic numbers.

Not only gamblers patronise the “professor” however, students who want to pass their WAEC and NECO believe that somewhere in all the formula the professor scribbles down on that culvert are the answers to some of the toughest Maths and Further Maths questions that will be asked in the next WAEC and NECO exams.

God go kuku help us for this Country.

Why is it that the male organ comes in different sizes but condoms come in one size? - Razaq Tunde

I was looking at a pack of condoms today and it suddenly struck me that I have never seen a pack of condom with different sizes for different people. Whether you are a cheap guy like me when it comes for condoms, going for the popular N30 Gold C and its ilk, or you’re one of the big boys that buy the N1000 a pack-of-three kind, you must agree that you only get one size. If you walk into the average chemist in Nigeria and ask for a condom, they don’t ask you what size, they just ask what
kind. Size never comes into play…and when I looked at the condom section of 5 chemists last night, I found out nothing that had to do with size preference. Damn!

You may ask why condom size is
important:
It is important because if a condom that too large could come off during
intercourse. The undersized condoms could  break/ tear during sex. No wonder many people
still have unwanted pregnancies despite using condoms.

Again, if the condom is not long enough to cover your entire penis, then bodily fluids may still find their way from partner to partner, so you are still at risk of catching a disease.
Something smells fishy here. Are the
manufacturers of condoms supplying the Nigerian market saying that all of us men, no matter the age have the same penis size?
Though I have not found any condom too small for me and I haven’t really felt strangulated by any either, one cannot but wonder what guys with the extra short or extra thin pinini do… If boxers and bras can come in different sizes then condoms must follow suit. Again, dildoes come in different sizes. The positive here is that the p-boy is capable of adapting no matter the situation. Even the small ones can expand to fill in the space of the big one (wink)… a lesson to those who think their Johnny
is too small and who boast of a Goliath down there.

Anyway, can someone tell me why the condoms don’t come in different sizes?

[A Must Read] Nigerian Graduates Are “Frustrated &Hopeless”

Hope Aiyo, one of the “jobless Nigerian graduates,” urges the Ministry of Labour and Productivity, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria to address the problems of unemployed
Nigerian youths.

Hope Aiyo, a self-described “jobless Nigerian graduate,”
penned an article entitled The Cry of a Frustrated Graduate.
The article focuses on the problems of Nigerian youths and the reluctance of Nigerian government agencies to address the multiple issues.

I would like to reach out to the concerned government agencies to inform them of the problems that Nigerian graduates have to face every day. I want to believe that
this write-up will reach the concerned people in power.

And maybe, after reading this, they will take actions. It pains me to see how most of the multinational
organizations hide under the umbrella of outsourcing agencies. Thus, they are able to extort the strength of the helpless and hungry Nigerian graduates. They do this while smiling to the bank with billions.
The majority of these organizations, however, claim they are youth-friendly. Despite these claims, young Nigerian graduates are dying of joblessness.

Therefore, I think the Nigerian Labour law needs to be reviewed. Relevant agencies must understand that Nigerian graduates have the right to work in their own country.
I am urging Chief Emeka Ngozi Wogu, Nigerian Federal
Minister of Labour and Productivity, to address these
issues, together with the Manufacturers Association of
Nigeria.

The normal system of education in Nigeria is 6-3-3-4.
Couple this with the usual hardships associated with the
university environment. Having all this in mind, I have trouble imagining a Nigerian graduate who, after all of this, settles for an outsourced sales job for N25,000 in a company that declares more than N20 billion in dividends at the end of the year.

Nigeria is blessed with decent energetic youths ready to give their last strength for the progress of this country. I am calling on the Nigerian youths, the Nigerian graduates.
All hands must be on deck to have a country we can call our own.
President Goodluck Jonathan, Sir, please listen to our cry.
Honourable Minister of Labour, Mr. Wogu, we are begging!

Why do you think Nigerian graduates face so many
problems with empoyment? Is there a solution to the
issue?
